Sapcon`s Paddle switch enhances reliability

Released on = March 26, 2007, 5:38 am

Press Release Author = Ashwin R. Palshikar

Industry = Electronics

Press Release Summary = SAPCON'S SLMR series of paddle switches is designed for use
in powders, granules, and other bulk materials.

Press Release Body = It is especially suitable for use in sand, grains (oats, corn,
etc) and other bulk and particulate materials. It can be used in hard-to-sense
liquids such as slurries and viscous media like jams and cream. Variety of paddles
is available to cater the needs of different applications.

SLMR involves simple installation and need no maintenance. It has a long life. The
operation is not affected by electrical properties of material and moisture content.
A Compact geared synchronous motor is used that does not burn under stalled
condition. Teflon sealed shaft helps avoiding deterioration of performance caused
due to the ingress of dust. The Magnetic slip clutch averts snapping of gears on
manual rotation of paddle in stationary condition. Sealed antifriction bearings
ensure long trouble-free operation.

The geared synchronous motor drives a paddle via a magnetic slip clutch mechanism.
When the service material covers the paddle, it resists its rotation, causing the
reactionary torque to displace the motor assembly, tensioning a spring and operating
micro-switches for signaling and de-energizing the motor. When the paddle is
uncovered the restoring spring returns the motor assembly to the previous position
and the motor restarts.
